Maelis is the elf scout who held the bridge so others could live. Her courage becomes the wound that pulls the entire story forward: she is captured, dragged below, and left suspended between rescue, sacrifice, and something far more complicated. To the survivors, she is proof that heroism still exists. To the underdark, she may be a key.
Her past with Kalahanna gives her absence emotional weight, but Maelis is more than someone to be rescued. She is a warrior in her own right — defiant, capable, and dangerous even when trapped. The deeper the story goes, the harder it becomes to know whether Maelis is a victim, a weapon, or someone still fighting from inside the dark.
